Caterpillar profits from Israel’s human rights violations of Palestinians by selling bulldozers to the Israeli army through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program.        Israel uses these bulldozers to injure and kill civilians, destroy houses, agriculture, and infrastructure, and build illegal settlements and its illegal Wall in the West Bank. Since 1998, Caterpillar’s political action committee (PAC) has given more than $1 million to candidates for Congress.  To find out if and how much money your Members of Congress have received from Caterpillar, click here. Contact your Members of Congress and ask them not to take money from companies, such as Caterpillar, which profit from human rights abuses.

September 02, 2010 Subject: The Israeli military is misusing Caterpillar bulldozers in the Occupied Palestinian Territories to injure and kill civilians, to demolish homes, to destroy olive trees and other agricultural land, to build illegal settlements, and to construct a segregation wall on Palestinian lands, among other human rights violations. Such actions contravene the Geneva Conventions, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the recent advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice. In addition, it is possible that the sale of Caterpillar equipment to the Israeli army violates the US Arms Export Control Act and US Foreign Assistance Acts. Until Caterpillar ceases to profit from human rights violations against Palestinians, I strongly urge you not to accept money from Caterpillar's political action committee (PAC) and to return any previous money accepted from them.
