Calls Congress to Support H.R. 4232, the “End the War in Iraq Act of 2005”

(See below to send an email to your representative)

Rep. McGovern has introduced a strong piece of legislation that would stop funding for the deployment of U.S. Armed Forces in Iraq. The bill allows Defense Dept. funds to be used only to provide for the safe and orderly withdrawal of all troops, consultations with other governments, NATO and the UN regarding international forces, and financial assistance and equipment to either Iraqi security forces and/or international forces. The bill will not prohibit or restrict non-defense funding to carry out reconstruction in Iraq.

Rep. McGovern is currently seeking co-sponsors. Please contact your representative to encourage him/her to become an original co-sponsor for the McGovern Resolution. (Since he hasn't introduced the bill yet, it doesn't have a number).

Please call your Representative. The Congressional Switchboard will connect you to your Representative's office: 202-224-3121.

When you call, you can say:
  • I am calling on behalf of (your local group) and United for Peace and Justice
  • I encourage you to become an co-sponsor on HR4232, the "End the War in Iraq Act of 2005."
  • Since President Bush is refusing to take steps to end the quagmire in Iraq, Congress must. I want my Representative to be a part of the solution by co-sponsoring the McGovern resolution.
Please help United for Peace and Justice keep track of our members’ efforts. Complete the form below to register your call, and send an email to your Representative. When sending an email, it is essential that you use your own words in the subject line and e-mail text.
