Do Not Execute Ronald Chambers!
Jan. 25, 2007, TX
On the evening of April 10, 1975, Ronald Chambers and one other codefendant carjacked Mike McMahan and Deia Sutton. They then drove them to an embankment, where they shot McMahan and Sutton in the head.Upon discovering they were not dead, Chambers beat McMahan and Sutton.Sutton survived the attack.
Ronald Chambers should not receive the death penalty for his role in this crime.Executing Chambers would violate the right to life, as proclaimed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and would constitute the ultimate cruel, inhuman, and degrading punishment.Furthermore, Chambers was only 20 years old when he went on death row, and had just become a father. He is now a grandfather, after having spent over 30 years on death row, the longer than any other inmate in Texas.
Please write to Gov. Rick Perry on behalf of Ronald Chambers!
