Support the Woolsey Amendment calling for a timetable for a withdrawal of US troops from Iraq.
Although the Woolsey amendment is not perfect, if adopted, it will begin to reframe the debate about Iraq and
lead to discussion about how to move towards total Iraqi sovereignty and U.S.
withdrawal.
The Woolsey Amendment to H.R. 1815:
Regarding a Sense of Congress that the
President should develop a plan for the withdrawal of U.S. military forces from
Iraq, and submit this plan to the congressional defense committees, will be voted on the House floor
today during debate of H.R. 1815 - the
National Defense Authorization Act for FY06.
The Woolsey Amendment to H.R. 1815
reads as follows: It is the sense of Congress that the President should --
1. develop a plan as soon as
practicable after the date of the enactment of this Act to provide for the
withdrawal of united States Armed Forces from Iraq; and
2. transmit to the congressional defense
committees a report that contains the plan described in paragraph (1).
