The Governor of Florida, Charlie Crist, recently took steps
that put Florida
and his administration at the forefront of the battle for a stable climate. By
issuing three executive orders, the Governor initiated the process of
drastically reducing the amount of greenhouse gases produced in Florida. The leadership
the state and its leaders have shown should be an inspiration to other
politicians in the area, and our elected officials at the national level.
Governor Crist has also formed alliances with other states,
like California, and other countries, Britain and Germany, to help create
the wide scale change that is necessary to avert the climate crisis. The GRN hopes he
will use this momentum to create change throughout the Gulf region, which is
the most vulnerable area in the country to the impacts of climate change.
