SEND OUR PREWRITTEN LETTER NOW OR, WRITE YOUR OWN: ********************************* Citizens for Fair Legislation Al-Awda, The Palestine Right to Return Coalition For Immediate Release May 8, 2005 ******************************** CFL/AL AWDA ALERT: STOP DEMOLITIONS AND LAND THEFT IN AL KHALIL (HEBRON) The Israeli occupation authorities have issued a decree to build a road, for use by Jews only, through parts of the ancient city of Al-Khalil (Hebron, in English). The creation of this Jews-only road, itself another example of a blatant act of institutionalized discrimination, would result in the theft of land belonging to several Palestinian families and the demolition of their homes. Additionally, the areas that are slated for destruction by the occupation forces include a Muslim cemetery, the Alsaqawati Muslim Shrine and the Am Aljadeda "Water Spring."
Please take a moment to inform your elected officials that you are alarmed by such continued deliberate Israeli attempts at institutionalized discrimination, ethnic cleansing, the theft of more Palestinian land and the destruction of holy and archaeological sites.
TALKING POINTS
*Tell your representatives that by building this additional road for use by Jews only on land belonging to Palestinians, the Israelis are creating more Palestinian refugees. There are already more than 5.5. million Palestinian refugees today because of such Israeli acts. These refugees have been denied their fundamental inalienable right to return to their homes and lands. American aid should not support ethnic cleansing.
*Tell your representatives that the Israeli authorities are taking measures that clearly show that the so-called withdrawal from the Gaza Strip is a calculated cover to facilitate the theft of more Palestinian land in the West Bank. Currently, there are 8,000 settlers in the Gaza Strip and over 400,000 living in the West Bank. That number is steadily increasing.
*Tell your representatives that Israeli actions, which have been supported by the Bush administration through our tax dollars, have destroyed the fantasy of a two state solution, and that the only viable solution that your elected officials should support is a democratic pluralistic state in all of Palestine (present-day 'Israel', the West Bank and Gaza Strip). Such a state would be for all of its citizens and free of any form of institutionalized discrimination based on religion.
